“Nine hundred and thirty is the benchmark for a superior score. It’s tough to get above that, and we did with fifteen [and twenty] points over. That’s a tremendous job,” said Chuck Capra, President of Hermann Warehouse Corporation.
AIB International (formerly the American Institute for Baking) is the leading organization for certification and education in food safety and manufacturing processes. As listed on their website, “At AIB International, we help food and beverage supply chain companies apply the highest standards of integrity, while partnering with them to continuously improve their food safety best practices.”
Companies are inspected on five different categories:
The Hermann warehouse and safety teams worked diligently to ensure that our newest facilities not only met the AIB’s passing score – which is 700 – but then exceeded the threshold for a Superior rating of 930.
Achieving scores of 945 and 955 not only demonstrate the cleanliness and high quality facilities Hermann now occupies, but it also allows us to partner with organizations who need to ship and
store food grade products. Flavorings, dry goods, bottled products – all of these items are required to be stored in clean, quality-controlled warehouses.
In addition to AIB Superior ratings, Hermann Warehouse Corporation maintains compliance with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) which aims to prevent foodborne illnesses, instead of simply responding to them. FSMA requirements include seven components:
The combination of the two standards – AIB and FSMA – allows Hermann Warehouse Corporation to accept food imports, store them, and then safely transport those items to distributors around the nation.
Hermann Warehouse Corporation’s commitment to clean, modern, and well-maintained warehouses is part of our promise in providing organizations we partner with custom solutions for their logistics and supply chain needs. For everything food grade – leave your logistics to us!
