Rick has been with Hermann since 1988, and for the past 15 years, he has worked on our account for a large fragrance and flavor company. Rick helps gather and prepare samples of the materials we receive before they are shipped over to their respective plant, and he’s very dedicated to accuracy and safety in his role.
“One thing that brings a smile to my face when I think back over these 35 years is the cast of characters I’ve had the pleasure to work with,” said Rick. “When you work so many long hours as we did back then, as part of a crew you bond in ways you might not normally. I made friendships from that time that last until this day, and some of those folks still work for Hermann. Let me just say there have been a lot of interesting people (in a good way) that I always enjoy reminiscing about with other long-time employees.”
After more than three decades at a company, it can be difficult to settle on a single favorite memory. One memory Rick mentioned is how much he enjoys the food trucks that are often provided for staff,
remarking, “Being a foodie myself, I have great memories of the clam truck at the company picnics. Oh, how I looked forward to that every year. And more recently the lobster and ice cream trucks the company has graciously provided. What a treat, thank you!”
When asked to describe Hermann in three words, Rick selected survivors, service, and people. “You simply do not hang around for nearly 100 years without providing great service. And you cannot do that without great people,” he said. “For stability, you need core people. Every account I’ve worked on here at Hermann has had great core people that stayed together for years.”
In his free time, Rick loves to play tennis and run. “There’s nothing I look forward to more than playing tennis with my 24-year-old son,” he said. Outside of Hermann, Rick’s most proud accomplishment is running five marathons after the age of 52.
We are very grateful for Rick’s dedication and the positive energy he brings to the warehouse every day!
