The mission of AIB International is to “Empower the global food industry to elevate their food safety and grain based production capabilities.” To that end, the organization recognizes that Hermann Warehouse offers superior capability in the safe storage, handling, and transportation of food and related food-grade products such as packaging.
Recently the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began enforcing new regulations to ensure safety in the country’s food distribution supply chain based on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). One of the key requirements is that food distributors, along with manufacturers and retailers, must produce documents within 24 hours for records going back two years regarding our compliance with Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC). We have systems in place to comply with this and all other regulations regarding the storage and transportation of food.
Of course there is always room for improvement and our policy is to keep abreast of any changes in the industry and remain current in the areas of legislation, food safety issues, technical developments, and industry codes of practice.
Hermann Warehouse accomplishes this with the guidance of several organizations including AIB, FDA, DEP, Warehouse Education and Research Council (WERC), the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), and the State of New Jersey. We also conduct weekly in-house food safety and sanitation inspections as well as ongoing employee training. Training includes:
I would like to congratulate all of the Hermann Warehouse staff for your dedication to food safety and expertise in providing safe, trackable handling solutions for food. We would make our founder, Fred J. Hermann (who launched our business in 1927 transporting watermelons), extremely proud!
