A Tradition of Excellence in Warehousing, Logistics and Transportation

We were founded in New Brunswick, New Jersey, as Hermann Forwarding Company. Our founders, Fred J. and Myrtle Hermann, purchased a small fleet of trucks to transport watermelons for the Great A&P Supermarket.

Our forwarding services in the Northeast U.S. expands. The company provides dedicated carrier services for Union Carbide (Dow Chemical) and Johnson & Johnson, among others.

The company continues to grow, and in 1946, Fred J. Hermann takes office as the Mayor of North Brunswick, NJ. He goes on to be their longest-serving mayor for a total of 18 years.

Hermann applies with the FCC for radio service so drivers can communicate directly with terminals rather than having to stop to use a telephone. In 1959, Hermann starts construction of its South Brunswick facilities.

The sons of Fred J. and Myrtle Hermann, Richard W., Albert and Fred Hermann, rise to lead the company. They launch the Leasing and Warehouse divisions which inspire the concept of Total Distribution Service. By 1969, Hermann Services operates harmoniously as a family of companies.

A third generation continues the Hermann tradition. The sons of Richard W. Hermann, Richard J. and Dennis W. Hermann, and the son of Albert “Ab” Hermann, William “Billy” Hermann, join the corporation. The expansion of the TDS business philosophy flourishes.

Dennis W. and Richard J. Hermann step into management roles and broaden the expansion of Hermann Services. The Leasing division grows their dedicated fleet operation and Warehousing sees a significant square footage expansion.

Hermann Services launches its charitable arm, Hermann Cares, and partners with Toys for Tots which is supported through yearly toy donations, drives, and awareness events.

We launched our first Drive Out Hunger event for South Brunswick, NJ, collecting one full trailer of food items for local families. In 2017 Charles Capra, President of Hermann Warehouse Corporation, is appointed to the Board of Directors. Our Delaware warehousing footprint also expands with the opening of a new facility in New Castle.

Hermann Cares partners with Project Protect Our Children, wrapping two trailers with the organization’s information, and we’re named an official annual corporate sponsor for Toys for Tots. In 2022, we remodeled our South Brunswick facilities and celebrated with a parade welcoming home our Old Timer truck and a Grand Reopening party.
